that is so awesome. i wonder if there are portable ac units? invention? I know the oscillating fans have an option to cool...but how cold do they get?

Yes, they already exist.
For some time now.

They usually have some running as demo units at Frys.

Basically a box on wheels you plug in, and a flexible hose you stick on the window or door to the outside of the room for the hot air.

They work pretty good.

Yep... we were considering renting one of these to cool down Pat's garage for a Tech Daze event a while back. Supposedly they do a good job of cooling down a garage-sized area.

When I was in Haiti, I drove past an air force area and noticed they all had big air conditioners for thier tents, while us army guys were just suffering in the fucking heat. I also noticed that at night when most of the cargo planes were flying in and unloading, that thier camp was pretty empty.

A couple days later, we had air conditioners, and the air force guys were wondering where thier AC units went.

I ended up getting one for working in the garage. A $500 unit for $150 off eBay, pickup local.
