We start going crazy around the end of Jan, because we are dieing to ride. Become super post whore's by the middle of Feb, on various motorcycle sites, then start riding earlier than we have any business to. Despite graveled and salted roads and the ever present danger of ice and snow. As for gear, on top of what most guys/gals have, I own 2 electric vests and a thin neck warmer that will fit sorta in my helmet and some big ass three fingered mitts for cold weather riding. Although I ride more than most guys up here.
In Calgary we also get Chinooks mid winter in which the temp will rise to about 60 degrees. The biggest challenge is getting the bike out to plowed roads as the ones by my place do not get plowed very often. I have almost 700 miles in this year! woot!

Pro's

Lots of power (After 8000 RPM)
Decent Power (Before 8000 RPM)
Good wind protection
Comfortable riding position
Low maintenance
Handles OK
No dumb plastic to break if dropped
Don't mind riding gravel on it
Great brakes
Somewhat unique

Cons

Butt ugly exhaust (Changed it on mine)
Would like more low end torque
Half fairing kinda ugly (would prefer a simple headlight)
Easy to drag foot pegs
De tuned prev gen R-1 motor

All in all I love my FZ, but I think I love all bikes.
Personally, I love naked bikes, I had a 96 bandit 1200S before the this one. The FZ-1 is superior to the Suzi in every way.

I do think my next bike will be a Super Moto of some type as they look hella fun but will have to keep the FZ for trips and highway fun.

Thank you. She needs a bath and a little mountain time. I haven't taken her for a good ride in two weeks. I think we are going to the lake Sunday.
