I Ride: 06' CBR1000RR
Where: Nellis, AFB
When: Sept 27th

It says you had until Sept 18th to register (2 days ago) because of clearance issues and such, so if you're interested you can still try.

1 Mile long top speed run, not elapsted time, the last 132ft has lasers to clock your speed, then a 0.9 mile slow down.

1 Vehicle at a time, Motorcycles welcome, Cars welcome.

7:00 AM – 10:00 AM Registration and Tech Inspection – 549th Combat Training Squadron Bldg
9:30 AM – 10:00 AM Pre-Race Driver’s Meeting (MANDATORY) – Grandstand/PA Stage Area
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM Mile Shootout Runs
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM Awards Ceremony

Directions:

From Main Gate: Turn Right on N. Washington Blvd., merge onto Griffiss Ave. continuing south for approximately 0.7 miles. Turn right on Tyndall Ave. for approximately 0.2 miles to the 549th Combat Training Squadron building on the left (look for the tank out front).

From Nellis Blvd Gate (“Tyndall” Gate): Stay on Tyndall Ave. for approximately 0.8 miles to the 549th Combat Training Squadron building on the right (look for the tank out front).

Also for a motorcycle you need full leathers, a teather kill switch (like the jet ski's) a steering damper, full face, leather gloves and boots....

I might be going just to watch, the basic entry fee is $149!!!! How can they charge that much, on a Military base?

More information/Rules

your a very funny man take the Busa out there. Did you ask your women if that was okay? I don't think so. Kind of like you racing at Midnight Madness. Not in this life baby. It's only cause I care.

Last year my boss was on the organization committee for this. The Vegas Ferrari club put it on and they had quite a few exotics there running. So the registration fee was a drop in the bucket for these guys bringing $250,000 cars to run.

I've seen some people take a lanyard put it around their wrist, and take the other end and screw it into the kill switch (the bottom side) so if they fell it would kill the engine, and it worked too!

This is just like any trackday at any other place. A Private Organization is putting it on, so the fact that it is a Military installation measn nothing... I wish this were happening when I was still there... I always wanted to do a run on the flightline... But somethin tells me this is not actually on the flightline.

Are the events on the salt flats cheaper than this?

It is actuallly on one of the runways. Last year at the end they had a dragrace with a F-15 on one runway going against a Lambo on the other runway. The Lambo had the 16 until about 100mph.

Here's a link to the pics on the Ferrari Club of Las Vegas website.

Nellis Airforce Base Autocross, F15 Race and Shootout - September 29-30, 2007 - Ferrari Club of Las Vegas Event

Last year they had a Jaguar XJR-15 go up against a F-16. They also had an autocross going on.
