Well it's a good thing I'll be hitting that stretch on Friday. So far two car fatalities and one bike from what I've heard and read. I'm just hoping it's clean, meaning no rocks. They have a tendency to find it's way down to the roads.

Anyone else tagging along, I'm rolling at 0745 from Sahara & Ft. Apache to the 215 from the Flamingo onramp. I must be at the Cajon Junction I-15/138 76 gas station between 11-11:30 am 210 miles away. Lunch in Wrightwood at the Grizzly Cafe at noon.

I will log onto the forum one more time before I roll just in case somebody else wants to tag along. My hotel is the Residence Inn in Westlake Village, one bedroom suite, plenty of room and has a pull out couch. Contact KY if you need my number.

Kenny

I did this over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Ojai is the business FOR SURE. One of the best roads I've been on so far, but I'm kinda new to the Cali canyon riding so I have a way to go yet.

(and by early I mean meet at my house by 4am, out the driveway by 4:30am). Drop my truck & trailer in Cypress, CA and hit the road from there.

Spend the day putting on about 150 - 200 miles going through the Santa Monica mtns, stopping at the Rock Store (30354 Mulholland Hwy 91301, supposedly a classic pit stop), on up through Ojai & the 33 in Los Padres Nat'l Forest, ending via the 166 to Santa Maria at the Holiday Inn ($140 for 2 queens) or Travelodge ($70 for 2 queens) (2100 N Broadway 93454 or 2250 S Broadway 93454) I know people are on a budget so either is fine with me, just depends what the "ins" wanna do. I plan on having some beers once we stop so as long as the beds are clean I can sleep anywhere.

Then, Sunday, take our time getting back to Cypress and the truck, perhaps hit a different route through the Santa Monica Mtns, put on another 150-200 miles, and then cruise back to Vegas.

We can do more or less miles depending on weather, stamina, inspiration, coin flips, whatever, lol, I just wanna ride.

Thanks to everybody for their feedback, hints, tips, & videos/pics! It's cool to have met a good group of ppl who obviously love this stuff! Cali riding DOES put Vegas to shame!

FYI. I just did the Ojai and 166 thing in May and that ride on the 166 between the 33 and Santa Maria is boring as hell. Pretty much flat and straight for the most part. The route you're planning to take through Ojai is going the cause you to miss some awesome road if you don't go all the way up to Lake of the Woods. There's a little store you can get a decent sandwich lunch at in Lake of the Woods. It's right about where the 33 and the 166 come together. You'll run right into it coming out of Ojai, staying on the 33, headed toward the 166. You can also get gas just up the road from the store in Lake of the Woods. No gas again until you get to Santa Maria but that's only about 110 miles or so.

Have fun fellas, and be careful out there. I don't think there's any cell service way up there in the Los Padres forest.

Derek broke his cherry today. Tackled ACH then he was introduced to about 20 miles of lane splitting up the 101.

We also hit Muholland Dr and the snake this evening. Roads were empty Tonight. Plus PCH Highway.

Total miles today 400 miles.

Sounds like there were two groups heading out. I read the RR (Ride Report) from Vegasrider but what about the other group? How was it? I can't wait to go back. Can't decide if I want to do Ojai again, Palomar Mtn, ACH, or Ortega Hwy.
