The ride will be approximately 600 miles, one day ride

We will meet somewhere in Vegas at approximately 6:00AM. All bikes should be fueled and ready to go by 5:45AM. Remember to drink some water when you wake up, and eat a light breakfast. We will leave promptly @ 6:15AM.

We will stop for brunch at 10:30AM and a stop for dinner at approximately 6:00PM. (Snacks in your tankbag/backpack are encouraged)

(Figure 4 hours to get there, 4 hours of riding and 3 hours back)

Approximately
100 Miles of blah (mostly to Kingman)
80 miles of twisties
200 miles of sweeps
40 miles of technical

What novice riders need to know:
It will be somewhat chilly, so bring extra shirts and under garments
Drink 3 gallons of water the day before the ride. (More water in your system, the less salt, the less your azz will hurt)
Take two 1/2 liter bottled water with you on the ride
When going on long rides, it's important to stay aware and awake. Sleep 8 to 10 hours the day before. Make sure you eat 3 to 5 times (a can of peanuts or mixed nuts helps).
Keeping the bike in working order: ie.. fresh oil, coolant if necessary (carburated bikes will need clean airfilters: Altitude will greatly affect jetting, so it's nice to have good airflow). Chains properly lubed and fitted, tires in good shape and the electrical systems working as designed.
If anyone needs help or just would like to have a 'bike night' I will help anyone with there normal maintenance the night or two before the ride (for those going on the trip)

REQUIRED ITEMS:
Tool Kits
Tires should be in good condition to go on this ride. Bald tires need not apply
Drivers license w/ M endorsement, Insurance papers and registration (The police kind of like you to have this with you anyways) [ It's a long walk home if youre bike gets impounded. ]
Fresh Oil Change and clean airfilters
Cell Phone / Pager
Emergency Contact Information

The Goal:
The goal is to make the trip as a group. I prefer not to have a chase truck and generally do not offer one on rides. If anyone would like to volunteer for chasing and people want to chip in for gas, speak up!

This is a ride for people who want to get out of town, experience some tight technical twisties, enjoy some fast sweeps and the scenery.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER:
----- RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE! ------

I've seen you on ESB.* I was a regular on there a few years back and it's been a while but I have recently been back.* You seem like a cool rider but haven't posted on here much.* I've been with SCS since the begining and ESB before that.* *Sounds like a great post can you elaborate more?

[i]I'm a little concerned about the fact that you do not prefer
to have a chase truck??? SCS usually likes a chase truck for those that might need it.

I apolohize but I must speak upagain...

Did you really ask about no chase truck for a ride? I know you have only posted limited on SCS but we are about family and safe riding. We all love to ride, but it a safe manner. Maybe I understood you correctly, but safety is what riding is all about. I apologize but maybe I'm just confused. Can you explain to me why you would prefer NOT to prefer to have a chase truck there???

The only thing I can think of is that a chase truck could give someone a false sense of security. "Well, if I wreck, we have a chase truck so I will push myself harder" kind of thing. While that is what a chase truck is there for (hauling bikes that can't be ridden anymore), it shouldn't have to be used because someone is in over their head because there is a chase truck there.

I don't mind a chase truck, I just don't generally use one on rides. Not often would some one offer up to drive the long haul, but also have to worry about hanging with the riders and not really knowing the trail.

But if some one wants to, I'd be more than happy to chip in for gas/food

I wasn't going to post the details of the ride, since the police monitor the boards pretty heavily.

But here's the jist of it:

Vegas - Kingman (gas stop)
Kingman to Wickenburg (Gas stop - Meet up with AZ riders)
Wickenburg to Yarnell (Ranch House for breakfast)
Yarnell through the White Spars and up into Prescott
Prescott into Jerome
Jerome into Sedona
Sedona to the 40
40 to Kingman
Kingman to Vegas

That's what I think also, and for those of you that haven't ridden with Egami, I've ridden with him many times and he's is definitely one of the most safety oriented riders I have ever had the pleasure of riding with along with being a great rider that is always willing to help the less advanced riders.

Count me in Brian but I might have to cut short because of the Poker Run on Sunday. I'll call ya.

Sure, no biggie, go ahead and push yourself with no back-up. No skin off my nose.* It's not an SCS ride.* Just thought a chase truck could help for trouble spots.

Why the hostilities?

In the three weeks that I've been riding bikes, I've only needed a chase truck 6 times. I don't think I'll need one this time. This week seems like my week to shine!

No hostilities. It just struck me odd for someone to request not to have a chase truck for a ride to AZ. That's all.

I would actually drive the chase truck for this ride if

1. I had a truck
2. Was in Vegas

After I'm in Vegas please give me a call if you need somebody to drive a chase truck on a ride as I would rather learn the roads around vegas in a truck before I try them out on my bike...especially on a ride that long. Hope the journey goes well.

Quit playin. Your not coming to Vegas.

On another note, although I'd love to make this ride, I have mondo homework to do and don't have Sunday to do it.

Well, I never said I didn't want one. I think you might have misread the article a time or two. I think I specifically said I don't usually offer one, and since I know maybe 3 of the riders on this board..............

Anyhow, if you want to drive the truck, by all means!

I wish I could, I really wouldn't mind. I've done chase on a few trips for SCS. Unfortunately, with two spine surgeries and one to go, I'm not allowed to do alot of driving. Hopefully when I'm all done I can get back in the swing of things and help you guys out on your next one.

The Az ride today went off without any problems and was the bomb, other than a bit of wind it was an awesome mix of twisties, technical stuff, and sweepers. Gleno and Josh would have had serious wood. LOL A little over 600 miles thanks for the invite Brian, we'll definitely switch up next time so you can play on the 636.

Now I'm going to bed, gots to get up early for the poker run.
