I Ride: 2001 ZRX1200R, 2005 Hyosung GT650S Track Bike
It has been years since I have ridden a dirt bike, but am really considering it. I am not sure which route to go though. Dirt bike or Quad? I am a big boy...6 foot 270 lbs, so I need something that can haul my big a** around.

Any Suggestions?

depends on what kinda riding you want to do, bikes are so specialized now...

if you want to hit the tracks I would go with one of the 2 strokes still being put out, still lots of good choices
if you like the 4 stroke power & have the money to keep her running, go for the KX450F or YZ450F

if your looking to ride desert I would get the Yam WR450 or KTM 450/525 EXC (plated for the street)

if you want to ride around doing donuts or wear a Real Tree TM outfit, get a quad

I dont want to get any big air, perfect my back flip or tryout for the X-games I just want to have a little fun in the dirt. I am thinking of something pretty cheap for the first ride. Since it has been so long since I have ridden off road, I want to minimize my investment.

Isn't there a company that does off-road riding classes?

go over to SAMS CYCLE SUPPLY & check the board for used bikes, these bikes have no resale so you can get a nice year or two old bike with all the bling bling for cheeep

if your looking for a dirt MSF class, try these...

MOTOVATION INC. LAS VEGAS 89123 (702) 914-1750
DAY IN THE DESERT LAS VEGAS 89125 (702) 406-2154

prolly gonna be a waist for you since you have lots of sickle time under your belt, but you never know
just gear up & take it slow -
