Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew what NEEDS to be done to your bike to ride a Cal-Sportbike trackday? (the one on Nov 12th/13th) I want to make sure my bike is prepped way ahead of time. If I have time, I'll go through and safety wire everything like I did when I prepped my R1 for WSMC, but if I can't, I want to make sure I get all the NECESSARY stuff done so I can pass their tech. Josh? Pete? care to chime in on this??? I looked very briefly last night when I signed up for their trackday but didn't see anything listed for tech/bike prep. Any help would be appreciated because I want to get on this right away...probably even this weekend. I wish I could do it for our "Tech Daze 2", but that's the weekend afterwards. ![]() Thanks!

This info is from STT site..: Bike Preparation (Also know as "101 uses for duct tape") 1) All bikes MUST pass technical inspection prior to admittance to the track. If your bike DOES NOT pass tech inspection, you will NOT receive a refund. 2) Tires and brakes must be in good condition. Tires should be at least 75% of new condition. Any tires that are bluing from excessive wear will be disallowed. Slicks are allowed in 85% plus condition. We will have on site tire service at each track day, so if your tires don't pass, you will have the opportunity to put on replacement tires to pass tech. 3) All glass, headlight, turn signals, and plastic lenses must be taped over or removed. Side mirrors must be removed for the advanced group and at least taped over for all other groups. 4) We recommend, but do not require removal of center stands. No bikes with center stands will be allowed in the Advanced/Racer Group due to the ground clearance issue. 5) All machines must have an operational handlebar mounted kill switch/button and self-closing throttle in good working condition. 6) Advanced and Intermediate group riders MUST use water or water wetter in place of coolant at all events. 7) All valve stems must have caps. 8) Wheel balance weights must be well-secured. 9) License plates must have bolts taped or be removed. 10) No Fur Allowed. back to top Rider Gear Requirements (No, shorts and flip flops won't cut it....) 1) Damage free DOT or SNELL full-face helmet with face shield. 2) Riding boots that fully cover the ankle. 3) Gauntlet style gloves with full wrist coverage. 4) One or two piece leathers. Two piece leather suits must zip together for intermediate or advanced groups. Ballistic nylon suits such as Joe Rocket, AeroStitch etc. are acceptable in the Novice and Intermediate Group only provided they are either one piece or zip together with at least 50% zipper contact with reinforced and padded shoulders, elbows, hips, and knee areas. No chaps. Advanced and Intermediate group riders MUST WEAR A BACK PROTECTOR. Soft back pads sewn into suits are not enough. We sell Bohn back protectors at special STT member discounts. We can arrange to deliver your new back protector to you the day of your event or ship it to you home. We will have a limited number (6-10 per event) of back protectors for rent. No back protector = no track time!!! IMPORTANT NOTE: YOU MUST RIDE A MOTORCYCLE APPROPRIATE FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE TRACK RIDING. SEVERELY UNDERPOWERED MOTORCYCLES, OR THOSE NOT SUITED TO HIGH SPEEDS OR LEAN ANGLES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE TRACK, if you have a question regarding your bike, contact us.

This is from Calsportbikes site.. It should look the same as the first one I posted. They have the same rules. But read both, I may have missed something in my reading..:: Bike Preparation (Also know as "101 uses for PVC tape") 1) All bikes MUST pass technical inspection prior to admittance to the track. If your bike DOES NOT pass tech inspection, you will NOT receive a refund. 2) Tires and brakes must be in good condition. Tire tread really should be at least 50-75% of new condition. Any tires with shredding, cracking, or have tread worn down to flat spot with no remaining stiping will be disallowed. Slicks are allowed for ADVANCED RIDERS ONLY. We will have onsite tire service at each track day, so if your tires don't pass, you will have the opportunity to put on replacement tires to pass tech. Brake levers must be functional, and may not show signs of not being safely bled (excess pull/play). 3) Glass headlight, turn signals, and plastic lenses must be taped over or removed. Side mirrors must be removed for the advanced group and at least taped over for all other groups. 4) We recommend, but do not require removal of center stands, but no bikes with center stands will be allowed in the Advanced Group due to the ground clearance issue. 5) All machines must have an operational kill switch/button and self-closing throttle in good working condition. 6) Advanced and Intermediate group riders MUST use water or water wetter (or equivalent) in place of coolant at all events. 7) Noise Limits - Laguna Seca has a 90db noise restriction policy measured by a decibel meter. Riders flagged off the track and who are unable to come into compliance will not receive a refund. If you don't know if your bike will pass this limit, please email or call us for further advice. 8) Wheel balance weights must be well-secured (crimped or taped over). 9) License plates must have bolts taped or be removed. Rider Equipment Requirements 1) BSI, DOT, or SNELL full-face helmet with face shield. Swing-up chin-bar helmets are ONLY allowed in the beginner group, and any of these helmets that don't lock firmly (i.e. ROOF and others) will not be allowed period. You are risking your own head by riding with a damaged helmet, but any damage more than scuffs or scrapes will NOT pass tech since we care about your safety even if you may want to risk riding with a severely dinged-up lid! 2) Leather or similar material motorcycle riding boots that fully cover the top of the ankle and MUST overlap your suit's pant leg. No external laces allowed. 3) Undamaged gauntlet style gloves with full wrist coverage (must overlap sleeve of suit). And for your own protection, don't come to a track day wearing some cheapo paper-thin gloves. You want your hands to be protected WELL, right? 4) One or two piece protective suit. Two piece suits must zip together 100% if worn in Advanced or Intermediate Group....at least a standard "back zipper" is required for Novice riders. Ballistic nylon suits such as Joe Rocket, AeroStitch etc. are acceptable provided they have reinforced and padded shoulders, elbows, hips, and knee areas. But for Advanced riders, a LEATHER suit is required (1 or 2 piece is fine). . 5) Advanced Group riders MUST WEAR A BACK PROTECTOR. Back pads sewn into suits are not enough. 6) You must be 18 years old. We DO allow riders as young as 14 years old IF they hold a racing license from a sanctioned racing organization, and they have a parent/guardian in attendance with a signed minor waiver. This is a RARE case, but for semi-pro or pro "young guns" we will make allowances. 7) NO sparking knee sliders allowed. At ANY venue. IMPORTANT NOTE: YOU MUST RIDE A MOTORCYCLE APPROPRIATE FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE TRACK RIDING. SEVERELY UNDERPOWERED MOTORCYCLES, OR THOSE NOT SUITED TO HIGH SPEEDS OR REASONABLE LEAN ANGLES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE TRACK. What to bring (some stuff is more important than you think!) 1) Bike Key (no fun to pay a mobile locksmith $100...trust us!) 2) Medical Insurance card or a photocopy (we do not provide medical insurance for riders). 3) If attending alone, throw a piece of paper on the dash of your car with a couple emergency contact numbers. While we don't expect problems, we have had a couple occasions where we could not reach the emergency contact person provided during online registration (We were forced to sell the rider's gear to the ER staff for our amusement) 4) Sunscreen: We suggest the spray on non-greasy types. There is NOTHING worse than being cranked over at 140mph in T8 at Willow Springs and having sunscreen-tainted sweat drip into your eyes. (Don't ask how we know) 5) A nylon-type folding chair. Few venues have chairs and your tailgate gets HOT. Our riders are always welcome to hang out on the chairs we provide near the grid under our canopies, but it's something cheap and simple to bring. 6) Accurate tire gauge. We have one around, but it can be in high demand. Good idea to set your tire pressure COLD first thing. (31F/29R for most, 32/32 for Pilot Power, 30/23 for Power Race)

Jerry...thanks for the posting bro! I appreciate it. I have all that covered already, including the Water Wetter & distilled water. I put that in as soon as I got the bike. ![]() Looks like I'm good to go then. I just wasn't sure if they required safety wiring the oil filter, radiator cap, pinch bolts, etc...I had to do all that crap for WSMC (they are actually more stringent than the AMA is!!!), so I just wanted to make sure I got everything done that had to be done. I'll be borrowing Dave's leathers (thanks Dave!!!!) for Sat so I'll be good to go on that. Plus, Mr. Jerry is nice enough to allow me to borrow his track plastics, so I won't have to worry about taping anything off...WOOOHOOOO! Thank you so much sir! ![]() Man I'm ready to rock and I'm excited as heck about getting back on the track! Cya all out there!

Combined weight of bike AND rider not to exceed 500lbs. Pretty stiff rule, but, they take it seriously at weigh in.
