If anyone has been following the Johnny Rock Page backmarker saga in AMA, this is great news IMHO.

Soup :: AMA Pro Suspends Ludington :: 07-22-2009

And here's the confrontation that led to the suspension:

awesome! to bitch at someone for "messing up the show" is pure crap. I want racing, not a show. If I wanted to see a show, I would watch wwe. As a technical director, he should know the rules and concern himself with that instead of worrying about "the show"

I'm glad that Al dood got suspended, he's an idiot, for yelling at Johnny Rock Page, and Page did what the rules ask of him as a racer...

But you know if Al wasn't caught on video, nothing would have ever happened to him...

Big ups to JRP for keeping his cool too and being professional because I'm not sure I would have been able to do the same. As soon as someone of authority came to me cussing and speaking to me like that, I would have snapped. I hold officials and people of authority to a much higher standard and Luddington displayed nothing but an abuse of power.

Here's JRP's thoughts on the Ludington confrontation:

Racer To Racer: AMA Privateer Davie Stone Interviews Johny Rock Page On The Mid-Ohio Tech-Shed Confrontation With AMA Pro Racing Tech Boss Al Ludington News Article // RoadracingWorld.com

I also give him props for handling this incident in a professional manner. There is no place for the type of behavior Ludington displayed.

Ludington was in NO position to yell at anyone but his own crew. This is a sanctioned race that has TV coverage. They only people that are in a position to talk to Rock Page about the incident are AMA/DMG officials. TV crews are there to film the event not to organize it or enforce rules.

Now, if a rider threw a camera guy to the ground, then you can say something.

OK... Cliffs:

Josh Hayes and Aaron Yates are negotiating lapped riders (backmarkers) near the end of their Superbike race at Mid-Ohio. JRP is one of the backmarkers and is blue-flagged. This is the procedure followed by blue-flagged riders:

Quote:
Originally Posted by From the 2009 AMA Pro Road Racing Rulebook: "Section 7: Race Rules And Procedures 7.14 Flags / Lights vii. Blue Flag

JRP was passsed cleanly by Hayes, but Yates was held back a bit while JRP maintained the racing line. Yates eventually caught back up, but Hayes won the race by a tight margin.

JRP ends up getting sent to tech (where the video takes place) and Al Ludington proceeds to ream him a new one for not essentially pulling off the race line and letting the leaders pass.

Thanks for clearing that up E. I didn't see the race and wasn't sure exactly what the problem was. And now I know what a blue flag is...

They caught JRP right in a series of tights turns. There is really no good place to go. JRP may have slowed Yates slightly, but not by much. The fact is, passing other riders is part of racing. If the officials don't like that than only allow the top 10 qualifiers to compete. Lets see how fun that is to watch.
