I'm going to be attending the Star School at the Chuckwalla speedway on 3/31-4/1. This is going to be my first track day and i am super excited! If anyone else would like to go please post up so we can go as a group. I have a truck but no trailer so we would need a trailer If you don't have a way of transporting your bike. *I don't think two bikes would travel very well in the bed of my truck...

The two day class is $550*

Here's a typical day at STAR:

You register and they tech your bike and your gear (helmets, boots, gloves, suit).

Jason will have a welcome meeting and there you can decide to either split into the beginner/street group or the advanced/trackday/racer group. You decide yourself what group you will want to be in.

One group will go out on the track while the other will receive instruction. This will be how it goes throughout the day.

There will be a lunch break. Immediately after lunch break (or before) you will also get to see how Jason and the instructors take certain turns.

However the day is very flexible...because on the second day we started with a track walk.*

Its a very casual and very open discussion type learning environment.

Wow! Way to get on it straight out of the gate... I have done a couple track days long time ago but nothing in the past 3 years so I'm not speaking with a lot of experience... but I would think that the Star School is more advanced than something a first-time novice would be prepared for... don't get me wrong, it's a great opportunity to learn from the pros, but maybe too early for ya... I would think that $550 would buy you 3 or 4 local or nearby trackday sessions first so you can get your bike set up, get used to the format, and gain some experience first... so when you do go to Star School you know what they are explaining to you... instead of giving them the 'deer in the headlights' stare...

but that's just my take on it... best of luck to ya out there!

It's a decent school, you should have a good time. Make sure to ask for help. If you don't you may not get much feedback.

I did the STAR school back in 2004 and it was great! It would definitely make for a good first trackday experience for rider with a few thousand miles under their belt. As I stated before, do the 2-up ride with Jason... you won't regret it!
