I Ride: K7 GSXR 750 Race bike, 2006 YZ250 for playing dirty
I got this from a So.Cal. forum...
hope you all can make to this one, as I'll be there trying to figure out how to ride a sportbike... LOL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~
Cal-Sportbike TrackXperience is coming to Spring Mountain/Pahrump June 24-25 for a weekend of schooling, personal coaching, and skills certification!
EXPERIENCE THE DIFFERENCE: No reckless riders or unbridled egos here. No elbow scraping passes. No chili dogs either for that matter. What we provide is simple....safe low key fun, association with professional people and courteous riders, yet still experiencing your bike's raw screaming potential in a well controlled environment. Are we for everyone? Of course not. We're not a race practice, nor are we an ego-fest open event. And our clientele expects no less. We welcome you to come out and experience the difference for yourself.
RIDING SCHOOL: The comprehensive school rivals the large national schools (including training on our XR100 fleet on specially designed courses not found at schools costing DOUBLE our ticket price!). Our school is well suited for novice to intermediate riders who are looking to build their skills, from learning the physics of precision bike control to the mental approach to smooth riding.
OPEN LAPPING: For mature experienced track riders, we offer open lapping with abundant track time yet we avoid overcrowding the track and we keep unsafe and discourteous riders out of our events. You bring out a nice bike, we expect you to be able to take it home shiny too. Our staff of professional instructors are available throughout the day for one-on-one personal coaching, and they monitor this group for safe and courteous riding. Open lapping in level 1 is for riders desiring a slower pace, or riders who just finished the school the previous day on a two-day event. Level 2 open lapping is for a typical mid-intermediate to advanced track rider. Licensed racers are allowed at our events, but must bear in mind the nature and approach of our events, and NO RACE PASSES will be allowed.
TRACSTAR CHALLENGE: Tracstar is a skills-based rider certification and awards program which focuses on developing both physical and mental bike control skills and safety habits. It is inspired by proven sports training programs that have worked well for decades around the globe. Tracstar is free and optional for any rider.
FORMAT: 2 customized groups. Long sessions, no overcrowding. We structure our groups so that each rider has an average 430' of linear space to themselves. Not only do you receive more miles via more seat time, but a BETTER experience. Need we say more?
AMENITIES: We provide a full catered hot buffet breakfast with Starbucks coffee, and a full catered buffet lunch. We also deliver chilled bottled water and Gatorade delivered to each pit during the day. Chair massage therapy is also complimentary.
Optional services at this event include tire service, suspension tuning, photography by Trackday.net, and videography by Tom Davlantis! We have standby EMS and of course a full corner staff for your safety.
PRICE: The ticket price is $230 per rider and includes all meals and beverage service, and the complimentary massage therapy. You get what you pay for...and our riders expect a better experience with more track time and better amenities.
* Motorcycle industry employees, licensed racers, and woman riders are eligible for additional sponsorship savings. (Industry/Racer discount tickets do notinclude catered meals)
More information on the TrackXperience riding school, open lapping, and the Tracstar™ Challenge Program can be found online at http://www.trackXperience.com or by calling (800) 930-8520.
Media inquiries or registration questions may be directed to Todd Robinson at sales@calsportbike.com or at extension 81. Questions about the value and service you'll receive from TrackXperience may be directed to Jim Hoskins at extension 84 (jim@calsportbike.com) or Tom Davlantis at extension 83 (tom@calsportbike.com). Online secure registration is available, or riders may register by phone at the number above.
I did my first track down at Pahrump with Pilot Powers attached to a gixx 1K. I'm not fast by any means but they held up really well for what I needed them to do.
I have been to all cali track and nothing this expensive.
Well sounds like a pretty good set up with two groups and open laps so it might worth the money.
About pilot power i was doing a lot of track days with street tires and never had a problem then i started using race coupound and they grip like hot glue.
Im planning to ride pilot power for my firs track day here in vegas, im pretty sure that with this heat theyll grip fine.
Trophy, I think youll be fine with PP. You dont need slicks for a while when you go up to expert-race level you might want to think about slicks.
Good luck.
The Pilot Powers will be just fine for the track. They're actually made for street/track riding, so unlees you're looking for an extra few seconds a lap they should work.
I will have room in my trailer for another bike, if you want to ride with gixxergirl and I. We will be riding both days and I hate to see you waste money on a rental. Also, we usually have a bike prep night at our house the Thursday before the trackday weekend. You could ride your bike over that night, prep it, then one of us could take you home.
It helps to have someone who has done this before to help you out for the first time. I remember my first trackday and I was pretty nervous about the whole deal. But no worry's, we'll help you any way we can. I even have the extra tie-downs.
We haven't figured out exactly how we are doing this, but I have heard that you can use the tanks that pest guys use and pump it that way. We will probably go that route. I know Ian has some Ideas. Also I saw mister hose @ Target for about the same price.
My first trackday was on a Saturday and I loved it so much that I showed up the following day and rode again. I couldn't get enough of it. You will learn more by doing two trackdaysback to back because on the first day you are in the school and still feeling somewhat out of place. On the second day you know what you expect and you can work on your technique. Just be careful on the second day because you will get physically and evenmore mentally tired. If you do both days, just plan on taking it easy after lunch on the second day.
That back-protector you got today is a GREAT investment. Money well spent.
If you ride Sat, I would do the school that day, and do open lapping on Sunday. They will do a repeat on Sunday of Sat. And Yes you're more than welcome to come w/ us on both days!
This just in from Cal-Sportbike TrackXperience!
In response to several inquiries...
We will not be doing camping in the paddock at Spring Mountain at this
event. Too many people we talked with were concerned about their
comfort
level in the heat. Even charging a reasonable per-camper price would
not
offset the track fee for this service. For RV'ers, we suggest the RV
park at
Best Western Pahrump Station.
We still have space in both groups for both days, so come on out and
ride
one of the country's best tracks in a low key and fun environment!
Yeah (once again), what she said. Do what gixxergirl stated and call Todd to switch your school to Saturday and then ride again on Sunday in the L1 Open Lapping class (no school). And, yes, just plan on riding home with us both nights, it is our pleasure.
Todd is having trouble selling this event out so anyone interested should call him!
National weather service is showing the weather to be hot:
Saturday: Mostly sunny. Highs around 105.
Saturday night: Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 70s.
Sunday: Mostly sunny. Highs around 103.
Sunday night: Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 60s.
be sure to stay hydrated, start drinking plenty of water the day before,
and lots of water at the track!
you should be going to the rest room just about every other session your not riding...
