just curious how long it takes you guys to get to tracks like MMP, SMMP, willow springs, laguna seca, reno-fernley etc.

i never trust driving times given on map sites, as i'm usually 3 hours faster.

I made a very detailed list of all the west coast track's remaining track days for the year within a 450 mile radius and included thier distance to the track from Las Vegas

I dont know why, but it never got posted as a sticky topic

OMG OMG OMG OGM OMG

that just made my day.

i usually drive 8 hrs to get to VIR , and i've driven 10 to get to road atlanta (i don't like the tracks close to pgh....i prefer the horsepower ones like vir or road atl), and that track is like 2.4 miles.
u beootches have a 2.3 mile course right in the city!

7 hours for thunderhill!!
they said like 13 on mapquest...

how far for laguna?

this alone is the reason im moving to vegas.
vegas is the shortest distance from all the west coast tracks

Gixxergirl and I just got back from the USGP at Laguna and it took 9 hours to drive there (were we saw poor cry baby Rossi loose his motor on the front straight. Sweet!). Pulling a trailer could add a little time since 'K'alifornia has that lame 55mph speed limit for autos w/trailers.

I am going to California Speedway for a trackday on Saturday. It is about a 3 hour drive and lots of cheap lodging in the area. I am staying at the Ontario Hilton for $55.00 a night!

that brings up a question i forgot to ask:

i usually camp out at the track. nothing like waking up at 6am to the smell of motor oil and revving engines

but, since a lot of the tracks out there (spring mountain/reno-fernley willow springs) are basically in desert settings, how does this affect camping at the track?

assuming the temp isn't rediculously hot, do these tracks allow camping and have basic shower/restroom facilities?

will i run the risk of being attackered by coyotes and rattle snakes 'n stuff?

I have spent the night on the paddock at Spring Mountain, it's not a problem as long as the organizer arranges it with the owner. There is a make-shift outdoor shower there, if you know where it is. I have never seen anyone stay the night at Willow Springs and that makes me think that they do not allow it. I have never noticed showers there either. I haven't been to Reno yet, but we are scheduled to go in November (brrrrrrrrr).

Just did Cal speedway with fasttrack. Great setup. Full garages, with power! A very fun technical 22 turn track(the same the ama uses.
