OK, so I finaly decided it was time to try out the track, and today was the day. Took my 2000 Bandit, which Dave helped me make somewhat crashable, took all the fairings off and plastic pieces that could break easly. I registered for level 1 with fasttrackriders.com and went on. The first couple of sessions, especially the first one, was pretty challenging, it was pretty scary to see all those monster bikes there next to me on the grid and to think I’ll be running with them. Dave and Pete (thanks for letting us enjoy your “castle” and it’s water-spray features, it was nice cooling off in the 104 degree heat) After few sessions, it was pretty comforting to start getting the butt off the bike a little bit and definitely got more comfortable, but that heat was something, you know how it is in those leathers on the Vegas sun. Anyway, 5-6th session in, I started feeling the heat exhaustion and fatigue, and one of the middle turns, they decided it would be a nice idea to put hay bails to make into a chicane. I passed the first one, second one, then the brain just locked up, I just couldn’t make that last turn, about 3-4 seconds I saw what was coming, I slammed the brakes hard, and that Styrofoam looked too much like concrete, so just aimed for the hay. Prepared for the impact and went straight in. I tumbled over who knows how many times, the bike followed, pretty damn scary. My first reaction was to look for incoming bikes, and they did a good job not finishing me up. Felt ok for a minute then the dizziness started, pain in the left hand, nausea, and all the stuff that comes along. They stopped the session and the ambulance came over, they looked me over, gave me a ton of liquids, ice and stuff, paramedic said I was dry as a match, dehydrated badly and not sweating at all. The pain in the thumb was getting worse so, Dave got me in the car and took me to the QuickCare center to have it x-rayed. Sure thing, it is broken in 3 places and most likely will need surgery to repair it. So, exciting day eh? Maybe I was just cocky, or too pumped with adrenaline to realize it’s time to call it quits for the session once I realized half way thru my reaction time is down. So, learn from me, when you can’t go on anymore, get your hand up, get off the track, and load up with water. Bike is damaged but not MAJORLY damaged, looks repairable Also want to thank Dave for being there all day and for babysitting, he really is THE dude, he’s been helping me since I’ve known him without a question and it IS scary how much he knows about the two-wheeled toys. Also, thanks Pete and the buddy of his for the tips and taking the bike home! Be safe Bojan [attachment deleted by admin] |

Yeah, my buddy was the one who filmed it...and did a good job avoiding you. Hope you recover fully. Dave should have the raw files for you.

OK guys, i just saw the video myself, it's pretty horrifying now, I didn't think I hit THAT hard Thanks for concerns as well and the guy behind me, all i can say is thanks for avoiding me, i remember looking up the track right away and seeing a blue and white bike, was that you? The leathers, they did protect me pretty good, but my knees are still hurting, i have scrapes over me, the knees are torn up on them, i didnt look at them anymore, but no, i would never wear the same kind leathers, they are extremely poor designed, spend extra bux and get the real stuff. Also, good gloves!!! the quality on youtube seems a little better so i posted it there too |

![]() That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the X-ray. Seriously, I hope they can get it fixed up soon. BTW, Aftershocks Suspension does a good job straightening fork tubes for $40 each. Here's their site: http://www.aftershocks-suspension.com/pages/price.htm

I hate seeing someone go down during their first trackday. Some never go back. You already know that it was mostly the heat/dehydration. Don't let it keep you off the track.

ok guys, typing with one hand:) its thursday afternoon, 5-ish days after the fall, this morning at 8am, i headed in for the surgery. doctor said the fracture is pretty severe and there is no other option but to use the pins. the surgery lasted an hour and a half, i woke up at 10:30, i cannot describe the pain, it was severe, as they described. they gave me 3 "sessions" with morphine of 10mg each, then the pain was bearable, while i was still fighting my eyelids. went home and took the 4 hour nap, the anestesia is still working and not to mention just this much typing took 10 minutes:) the surgery went ok afterall, the pins are sticking out and are covered with a thick layer of cast. they will take them out in 4 weeks and cast in 8 weeks. read up your posts and thank you all for concerns, as far as riding, it makes me depressed to just think i cant ride for two months, and track days? oh yes, i cant wait for the next one, end of november i should be on and i can think of very few things that will stop me. this is a reminder and a lesson, even in the worst pain the nurse asked me "so u finally learned the lesson? u gonna give up riding?" hell no, if the lesson is to take it easy at the track then yea, learned that. so... my spirits are up, ill be bak! ok time to sleep out the rest of anestesia be safe bojan |

lOOK AT IT THIS WAY. It will be cooler out when you can ride again. ![]() The thing that pisses me off is that at www.fasttrackriders.com it shows a video of the extended course and they have the orange cones laying down instead of hay bails. I was heated when I saw that shit. Good attitude, man. I might be at the next one you go to. I need to get on the track. |

OK, had my doctors follow up appoitment today. Forgot to mention, the other night i was doing something and managed to bend up one of the pins, it started bleeding later that night and I had to go to ER fearing infection (infection-amputation). So today, the doc took the temporary open cast and I finaly saw all the pins coming out, I almost passed out, not pretty, especially the one that was hurting. They had little yellow balls on top to hold them in place. So, he offered to take it out, one of them, since it did its job and it was bothering me. OK, so the pain, really wierd, 1 thru 10, it was about a 7, I was like a cameleon going thru all the colors. And the force needed to pull it out was pretty bad too, he really put himself into it. The pain wasnt from pulling it, it was from all the other pins moving with the bone as he was pulling it out, the whole bone moves. The whole thing lasted about 2 mins, he was trying to budge it out. So, I survived, got 4 more to go. The good news is, only one more month for everything to be over with, not two!!! He was really suprised of healing process (no shit, those pain killers and sleep must of done SOME good). Now I have the full actual cast on and damn it's tight on here, it will take some getting used to, but it will feel better, i can actually use this hand more now. And, I have the pin with me too:) I'll take a picture later, and next time I go in, to get the cast off, I'll bring a camera with. That's it people, gonna go enjoy the pain and its killers now. P.S. Even after seeing how bad this looks, you have no idea how anxious I am to get back on the bike and track! Looking at a newer and better bike as I speak. Ride safe! Bojan |

one more thing. this whole deal isn't as easy as i mentioned, it DOES stay in your head, and im sure it will stay forever and yea i do fear of it, but its just a risk you have to acept if you want to go on the track, i took that risk and ill deal with it now, im really thankfull this is temporary, one more month and its over with but yes it will always come to my mind in risky situations. for people who havent crashed, dont take it as its just a broken bone, the crash itself really isnt the nicest thing to remember but again, im really thankfull that it will all turn out good. and thanks everybody for posting to this, it feels good to read up a comment or two on here |
