Well the first race of the year for me is over and I lived to tell about it The race was held at California Speedway (Fontana) I have never riden Fontana or my new track/race bike a 2005 ZX-10R SuperSport bike. I did the Saturday practis with Fasttrack and good thing I did. The track is a bit trickey for me in some spots as well as the new bike as it has GOOBS more power then my 04 ZX-10R. Other then the fact I have not been on the track in a year and about two years sense I tracked my 04 10R. It was taking me a bit longer to get the feel on the new bike and the track all at the same time but I managed. My goals for the weekend where to not crash. Not come in last. Run a sub 1:40 lap time My lap times on Saturday started off in the 1:50's but by the end of the day I was down to 1:42's and I felt I had more in it as I was getting used to the bike and track a little bit. Sundays first race was Formula 1, I was gridded on the 14th row ( last row) I got a bad start and finished the race 9th out of 14 or so riders. Lap times where all 1:42's Race #2 was "A" Super Bike, again gridded last. I got even a worse start but pasted a couple riders going into turn 5 and 6. on lap 3 the red flag came out and the race was called. I took 10th. lap times where all 1:42's Race #3 "A" Super Stock gridded last row again (I have no points) This time I get a good start and jump up towards the front of the pack. I latch onto the front group and follow them around waiting for a chance to pass. On lap 6 (final lap) I pass a rider going into turn 1. I pass him so fast I think to my self "Oh Shit there my be a red or yellow flag" so I lift but there is no flag and the rider passes me. I try the chase him down before the finish line but he put a gap on me and I was not able to catch him so I end up taking 6th. Lap times where all 1:40's with one of them a 1:39:42 All in all I had a great time and am looking forward to the next race.

Good job Josh! I'm glad to hear that you're getting used to the big bike. What is the history behind your new ride? Considering your connections, I wouldn't be surprised if this is a factory bike from a couple years ago?

Other than a couple bad starts, you still held your own on an unfamiliar track and new to you bike. I could only just hope to get near as good as you some day. Just be thankful that you didnt have a day like this poor guy in the 2nd race
