Nice video......Kind of.....

I can see you are a very skillful and confident rider, but +1 on getting some riding pants. Saw you split lanes between those two cager, but those types of moves at that speed just gives motorcyclist a bad rap. I would be lying to all of you if I said I never have done it, but always be aware of your actions, it spills over to all of us in one way or another.

Now if you want to make a real cool video, I work for a helicopter company and I can get a killer discount on chartering a helicopter to film you, us, or whoever. We have pilots who ride sportsbike too so they know what would be cool. They can film at low level.

I'll see you at tongiht.

Awesome thanks for the feedback, wise words. Also thanks for the compliments. I do know what I'm doing, at least I've convinced others so far

I even teach people to ride every now and then. Yes I am in this club to promote safety, I do need some leathers! I'm working on that as well as some boots!

Ohh and I have a pilot's license and access to an aircraft at all times, so anytime we wanna get something going where we could fly over a group of bikes that would be shaaaweet! I can't exactly fly really low, or slow like a chopper, but 500ft @ approx 50mph is about the slowest safe flight in the planes I fly.

Most excellent post... I kinda cringed at the lane split myself. But the Gorge is a nice ride... my first time through on Jerry's Busa made me buy one for myself.

Imagine getting a chopper to fly over the gorge filming about 10 to 15 bikes just flowing like a snake through the twisties. In HQ vid for use on you tube or live video. ::chubby:: A rider can dream can't he?

It doesn't have to be a dream, I can make it happen. If you really want HD quality video, you have the option of chartering Sky 8 ( newshelicopter ) which has HD Flir mount. But that's more expensive since you would be using Channel 8's video equipment, and that's extra ontop of the cost of the helicopter. Rest of the Heli's have a normal video system with camera which a pilot can pan, but no zoom, but you could have another person onboard with a good quality camera filming.

But any low level flying would have to be in area with no powerlines, and most importantly isolated. Can't be drawing attention. Maybe private road, as this type of flying and filming without a permit is kind of a grey area, but I know a pilot who is an avid rider who is eager to do it.

How much are we talking about ball park to fly up there and catch video (non-HD) of a bunch of bikes running the gorge? Consider it's 100 miles from Vegas and a 16 mile (10 to 13 min) run of freeway out in the middle of AZ.
map

Jimmy you added HQ.

$700 bucks an hour, includes pilot and fuel, two way radios and aircraft of course. You would be burning up flying time by filming up at the gorge since it's a good distance away. So you might have to charter for 1.5 or two hrs. Plus the pilot wouldn't be able fly very low. There are some nice isolated roads nearby around Jean that can support low level flying. I will ask about the gorge though.

OMG! It costs me approx $30 per hour to fly and I personally own an HD cam, $700 an hour? What kind of chopper is he using? Turbine would be my guess, not a little Robinson 22?

Also...
From KVGT- North Las Vegas Airport
To KSGU- St George Municipal Airport

93.4 nautical miles NE
Initial true course: 055

I cruise approx 125-140kts that distance wouldn't even burn 1 hour of fuel, I could buzz around for about 4 hours before I would need fuel. Wouldn't be able to get into the gorge (without ATC getting freaked out!) even VFR, I'm sure someone would notice, LOL!

But we could zoom in from on top, I've buzzed around the tops (approx 800ft + ish)

Yes, it's not a little R22 or R44, it's a turbine engine. Helicopters cost much more to operate vs fixed wing. But this price is all inclusive. I don't think anyone can fly for $30 an hour, including fixed wing. How do you come up with that figure?

Why would I want to do that? In that aircraft it has a huge bubble type dome on top, I could use another plane with no doors.
